On July 9th, 2007 I made an entry in my personal journal called “The Illusion Keeps Fading.” An excerpt from that entry stood out to me when I re-read it the other day: “Sometimes I need to remind myself that there is a separation between other peoples reality and reality; my interpretation of reality will also be different than reality as well.”
This begs the question: “What is reality?” Here is what comes to mind: Reality is what you hear when you’re not talking. If you close your eyes you can see it. If you silence your mind you can be it. In the blank dream, find that you are awake. Go to the very edge and take one more step.
This reminds me of something I recently read from Eckhart Tolle’s twitter account: “What is ego? Identification with thoughts is ego. Freedom comes when you realize those thoughts that have been going around in your head for years and years. You are not those thoughts. You are the awareness that notices the thoughts.”
